Samuel is the President and CEO of UMH Properties, a New York Stock Exchange listed real estate investment trust which provides much needed affordable manufactured housing. As president and CEO of the company for more than two decades, Landy directs management, acquisition, construction, and development of manufactured home communities. Since 2009, UMH has grown from 28 communities and 6,800 home sites to 135 communities consisting of 25,800 sites. UMH’s investment in these communities has turned them into first class communities at affordable rates that tenants are proud to call home. During the same time, Mr. Landy adapted to changing financing conditions and implemented a rental home strategy, growing UMH’s portfolio of rental homes to approximately 10,000 units. Under his leadership, UMH also invests in the expansion of their existing communities. He has worked with MHI, legislators, investors and the GSE’s to obtain acceptance and quality financing on rental units in manufactured housing communities. Additionally, UMH has begun construction of new communities through a joint venture with Nuveen real estate. A leader in the manufactured housing industry, Landy received the 2019 Manufactured Housing Institute’s Chairman’s Award for exceptional leadership.
Mr. Landy is a graduate of Curry College and a graduate of Widener University School of Law. Sam received an Honorary Doctorate Degree at the Curry College Commencement Ceremony in May 2023. Sam and his wife Laurie Landy have been married since November 7, 1987. Together with Sam’s father Eugene (RV/MH Hall of Fame Class of 2022), their sons Jeremy, Harry, and Daniel, and the entire UMH team, UMH has sold over 5,700 homes, rented 10,100 homes and grown to a total market capitalization of over $2.25 billion.
