Kevin has been named the Manufactured Housing Institute's Industry Person of the Year 3 times. He has long served on the MHI Board of Directors and Executive Committee and on the HUD Code Regulatory Reform Task Force. He is the leader of what has been identified as the most dynamic team in the housing industry. He was the leader of the sale of his company to Berkshire Hathaway giving an enormous credibility boost to the industry. Under his leadership, his company has grown to 38 home building facilities and 454 model home centers.

Founder and Chairman of Clayton Homes since 1966 and by 1968 was selling 750 homes per year from one location, in 1970 he began manufacturing. Active in the Tennessee, North Carolina, and Kentucky MH associations, and MHI as Board member and Executive Committee member.
